Author:Kristen Update:Feb 22,2025

Marvel denies using AI for "Fantastic Four: First Steps" posters despite fan concerns. The marketing campaign, launched this week, includes a trailer teaser and several social media posters. One poster, however, has sparked debate due to a seemingly four-fingered man.

Fans have pointed to other potential AI indicators: duplicated faces, inconsistent gaze direction, and oddly proportioned limbs. Despite this, a Disney/Marvel spokesperson confirmed to IGN that AI was not employed in poster creation.

The four-fingered anomaly has generated several theories. Some suggest the missing finger is hidden, while others attribute it to poor Photoshop work. Similar concerns exist regarding repeated faces, with some suggesting this resulted from common background actor copy/paste techniques rather than AI generation.

Marvel's lack of direct comment fuels speculation. The issue might stem from a post-production error, accidental erasure, or other non-AI related causes. The debate highlights increased scrutiny on film assets in the age of generative AI. Further analysis of "Fantastic Four: First Steps" assets is anticipated.
