By choosing the Switch 2 bundle that includes Super Mario Kart World, you can save $30 compared to purchasing the console and game separately. Keep in mind, the bundle includes a digital copy of the game, so you won't receive a physical cart or game box. If the tangible feel of a game is what you're after and you're willing to spend an additional $30, go ahead and preorder the standalone version.

Yes, the MSRP Is $79.99

When bought on its own, Mario Kart World retails at $79.99, which is $10 above the standard price for AAA titles on PlayStation and Xbox this generation. While the increase in game prices across generations isn't something to celebrate, it's understandable given the rising costs of game development. I remain optimistic that the expansive nature of Mario Kart World justifies this price hike.

What Is Mario Kart World?

Play Mario Kart World is poised to be the most ambitious Mario Kart game to date, offering an open-world experience akin to the Forza Horizon series. In Grand Prix mode, you can seamlessly transition from the finish line of one race to the starting line of the next. The game's tracks are influenced by dynamic weather and time-of-day changes, which can impact your visibility and grip on the road. You're not limited to the racetracks; Nintendo promises you can drive "virtually everywhere" in the game's world. Each race accommodates up to 24 drivers, surpassing the participant count of any previous Mario Kart title.

Introducing the new Knockout Tour mode, where you'll race across the open world, navigating through checkpoints with designated placement requirements. Falling behind at any checkpoint means you're out of the race. For a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode lets you and your friends explore at your own pace, capturing memorable moments with in-game photography.

Stay tuned for more information on Mario Kart World during the Nintendo Direct on April 17. In the meantime, check out our hands-on preview for a deeper look into what the game has to offer.
