"MageTrain: Fast-Paced Pixel Roguelike Now on Android"

Tidepool Games has just released a thrilling new fast-paced pixel art ‘snakelike’ roguelike game for Android called MageTrain. If you're a fan of Nimble Quest, you'll find MageTrain's gameplay strikingly familiar, as it draws heavy inspiration from it.

What’s MageTrain Like?

MageTrain blends elements of Snake, auto-battlers, and roguelikes into an exhilarating experience. You guide a line of heroes, much like a snake, as they automatically attack while you navigate them around an arena. Your role involves strategic positioning: deciding who leads the charge and who supports from the back, as their abilities vary based on their position in the train.

At launch, MageTrain features nine unique heroes, including one who throws birds, each with distinct skills that adapt depending on their placement within the group. You'll venture through eight varied dungeons, battle against 28 different enemy types, and unlock 30 skills to enhance your team. Along the way, you'll gather gold and power-ups to bolster your efforts.

Thanks to its roguelike framework, every run in MageTrain offers a fresh experience. You'll navigate branching paths, make crucial upgrade choices, and strive to endure as long as possible. The game echoes the dynamic structure found in titles like Slay the Spire or FTL, where levels aren't fixed and progress isn't saved; if you make a mistake, you start anew.

It Isn’t Slow-Paced

What makes MageTrain continuously engaging is the progression you experience with each run, even if you don't make it to the end. You'll learn when to play defensively, when to go on the offensive, and when to simply hang on for another half-minute.
