Keanu Reeves Pitches Constantine 2 to DC Studios, Script Now in Development

Keanu Reeves has delivered the most encouraging update yet on the much-anticipated sequel to the 2005 cult classic, *Constantine*. Playing the role of the iconic occult detective and exorcist, John Constantine, Reeves has been a fan favorite since his portrayal in the original film. After years of speculation and fan demand for a sequel, Reeves recently confirmed that a pitch meeting with DC Studios has finally moved the project forward.

In an interview with Inverse, Reeves shared, "We've been trying to make this film for over a decade, and we just recently put a story together and pitched it to DC Studios and they said, 'Okay.' So, we're going to try and write a script." This development marks a significant step towards making *Constantine 2* a reality, although it's not a done deal yet.

It's important to note that despite this progress, *Constantine 2* is not yet officially part of the rebooted DC Universe (DCU) under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran. Neither Gunn nor Safran have mentioned *Constantine 2* as a confirmed project, leaving its future somewhat uncertain. However, Reeves has teased that if the sequel does come to fruition, it will be set in the same universe as the original film. He humorously added, "John Constantine's going to be tortured even more."

Adding to the excitement, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura revealed to ComicBook that a script for *Constantine 2* is already in his inbox. He expressed his eagerness and apprehension about reading it, stating, "You know it's in my inbox right now, funny enough. I'm too scared to read it, though, I want it to be good so bad. I’ll probably read it in the next few days, when I get on an airplane."
