KartRider: Drift Embarks on Worldwide Farewell

Nexon announces the global shutdown of KartRider: Drift, the mobile, console, and PC racing game launched in January 2023. However, the Asian versions (Taiwan and South Korea) will remain operational, undergoing updates soon. Nexon hasn't disclosed specifics about these changes or potential future relaunches of the global version.

Asian Servers Remain Active

The shutdown affects only the global release; players in Taiwan and South Korea can continue to enjoy the game. Nexon will soon reveal details on planned improvements for the Asian servers.

Global Shutdown Timing Uncertain

The exact date of the global shutdown remains unannounced. The game is currently still available on the Google Play Store, offering players a chance to experience it before its closure later this year.

Reasons Behind the Shutdown

Despite efforts to provide a smooth global experience, KartRider: Drift faced challenges. Player feedback highlighted issues with excessive automation, making gameplay repetitive. Technical problems, including subpar optimization on some Android devices and numerous bugs, further hampered the game's success. These factors led Nexon to refocus their resources on the Asian PC versions, aiming for a more refined gameplay experience.
