"Jurassic World Rebirth Final Trailer Reveals River Raft Scene, D-Rex, and Mutadon"

NBC Universal has unveiled the final trailer for "Jurassic World Rebirth," showcasing essential elements of the film and providing a thrilling glimpse at both familiar and entirely new dinosaurs. This latest installment in the iconic franchise stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali. The movie follows an extraction team racing against time on the most perilous island on Earth, a former research facility of the original Jurassic Park, now home to the most dangerous dinosaurs left behind. Directed by Gareth Edwards, known for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," the film is penned by David Koepp, the original screenwriter of Jurassic Park.

Here's the official synopsis:

"Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea, and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind."

Academy Award nominee Scarlett Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a skilled covert operations expert tasked with leading a team on a top-secret mission to secure the vital genetic material. When Zora's operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinosaurs, they all find themselves stranded on a forbidden island that once housed a secretive Jurassic Park research facility. In this terrain teeming with diverse dinosaur species, they uncover a sinister and shocking discovery that has been hidden from the world for decades.

The final trailer showcases several highlights, including a river raft scene inspired by Michael Crichton's original "Jurassic Park" novel. David Koepp, the screenwriter, re-read Crichton's novels to reignite his creative process, as there is no source novel for this sequel. As a result, he incorporated a previously unused sequence from the first novel, bringing it to life in "Jurassic World Rebirth." Koepp revealed, "There was a sequence from the first novel that we'd always wanted in the original movie, but didn't have room for. We were like, 'Hey, we get to use that now.'"

The trailer also introduces new dinosaurs, including a closer look at the 'D-Rex,' officially named Distortus Rex. This mutant dinosaur, created specifically for "Jurassic World Rebirth," combines elements of a T-Rex and a Rancor from Star Wars. Director Gareth Edwards described it to Empire as, "It's kind of like if the T-Rex was designed by H.R. Giger, and then that whole thing had sex with a Rancor."

Additionally, the trailer features winged Mutadons, which Koepp described as "a combination of a pterosaur and a Raptor."
