Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower Than Global Version

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 10,2025

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with different pricing strategies for Japan and the rest of the world. This new gaming console will come in two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system, exclusively available in Japan, and a Multi-Language System, available globally. The Japanese version will be priced at approximately $330, while the Multi-Language System will cost $449.99, a difference of over $100. This pricing disparity is largely due to the weakened yen against the USD, which impacts the cost for tourists buying in Japan.

Residents of Japan have the option to purchase the Multi-Language System, but the Japanese-language version is strictly for those with a Nintendo Account set to Japan. This version supports only the Japanese language and is limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop. For those interested in using the Switch 2 in multiple languages, Nintendo recommends opting for the Multi-Language System version. Further details about this version will be disclosed on April 4.
