Japan Expansion for Ticket to Ride: Build the Bullet Train Network!

Ticket to Ride enthusiasts can now embark on a virtual journey through Japan with the newly released Japan Expansion for the digital version of the board game, brought to you by Marmalade Game Studio and Asmodee Entertainment. This exciting update brings the Japan map from the physical game to digital platforms, but with a twist that's sure to engage players in new ways.

Help Build the Train Network

Unlike the traditional game where you focus solely on building your own train empire, the Japan Expansion invites you to contribute to a national Bullet Train network. This cooperative element adds a fresh layer of strategy to the game. While you can attempt to be strategic and let others do the heavy lifting while you collect points, be cautious—the game includes a karma system. If you shirk your Bullet Train responsibilities, you could lose up to 20 points at the end of the game. So, a bit of teamwork is essential, even if you're plotting friendly sabotage.

The expansion introduces two new characters that enrich the cultural tapestry of the game. Nakanishi Kimiko, a travel blogger who's all about the festival scene and her canine companion, adds a lively touch. Meanwhile, Moriyama Isamu, a gyōji or sumo referee, brings in the historical essence of Japan, enhancing the local flavor beyond just maps and trains.

Ticket to Ride Has Upgraded Trains with the Japan Expansion

Your train collection is set to receive a stylish upgrade with the addition of two new trains and two carriages. The Ichi Eki Saki train and the Tsuki Sleeper carriage cater to your relaxed travel desires, while the Isogaba Maware train, paired with the Hayai carriage, offers speed and efficiency for those on the go.

With spring in the air, the Japan map is likely to provide an especially delightful experience with its seasonal charm. The Japan Expansion is available now for download, ready to enhance your Ticket to Ride sessions. You can find it on the Google Play Store.
