Fresh James Bond Origin Story Revealed: Lennie James Joins 007 First Light Cast

Today’s PlayStation State of Play unveiled a detailed glimpse of 007 First Light, the new James Bond game from IO Interactive, the Hitman studio, set for release in 2026.

A cinematic trailer introduced a young, untested James Bond at the dawn of his spy career.

The trailer also confirmed that Lennie James, known for The Walking Dead, will voice a key character in the game.

The trailer for 007 First Light depicts a young Bond, who, at age 11, witnessed his parents’ tragic deaths on a mountain after they cut their ropes to save him. He survived by descending the mountain alone.

IO Interactive first announced its James Bond project, initially called Project 007, in 2020. Details have been sparse, but the studio emphasized crafting an original origin story, distinct from any film’s narrative.

Recently, IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak expressed ambitions for 007 First Light to launch a trilogy of games. However, the studio’s acclaimed Hitman series is currently paused to focus on this project. In April, it was revealed that the game will also launch on Nintendo Switch 2, alongside PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
