Universal Pictures describes "The Odyssey" as a mythic action epic, filmed globally using cutting-edge IMAX film technology. This marks the first time Homer's timeless tale will grace IMAX screens, with a theatrical release slated for July 17, 2026.

The film chronicles Odysseus's arduous ten-year journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. While plot details remain scarce, early reports suggest an all-star ensemble cast.

Matt Damon, reuniting with Universal after his "Oppenheimer" success (a seven-time Academy Award winner), was reportedly the first actor attached to the project. Speculation points to a stellar cast potentially including Charlize Theron, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, and Robert Pattinson.
