Master the Dual Outfit Technique in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered!

This guide details how to combine the benefits of two outfits in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, leveraging the game's transmog feature. Note that this is only possible in the Remastered version; the original game lacks this functionality.

Remastered Version Required

The dual outfit method relies on the Remastered edition's transmog system, allowing you to wear the appearance of one outfit while retaining the stats and effects of another.

Outfit Requirements

This technique has limitations. While your primary outfit can be any you choose, your secondary (transmogged) outfit must be one of the following Banuk Werak outfits from the Frozen Wilds DLC:

  • Banuk Werak Runner
  • Banuk Werak Chieftain
  • Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept (New Game+ only)

Access to the Frozen Wilds DLC is required, but completing the main game isn't necessary.

Acquiring the Banuk Werak Outfits

Banuk Werak Runner

Reach the Frozen Wilds expansion area (defeat the initial machine if needed; adjust difficulty or upgrade your gear as necessary). Locate a Bluegleam Merchant (blue merchant icon) and purchase the Banuk Werak Runner outfit. Resource costs:

Resource Normal Cost Ultra Hard Cost
Metal Shards 1000 5000
Desert Glass 10 20
Slagshine Glass 10 20

Banuk Werak Chieftain & Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept

For the superior Banuk Werak Chieftain outfit, complete the "For the Werak" quest (third main quest in Frozen Wilds). Consider lowering the difficulty if needed. The Adept version is obtained the same way, but only in New Game+.

Combining Outfit Effects

  1. Equip your desired outfit (the one with the stats you want; enhance stats with Weaves if desired).
  2. Use the transmog feature to apply the appearance of one of the three Banuk Werak outfits.

This allows you to retain your chosen outfit's stats while gaining the auto-healing effect of the Banuk Werak outfit. The Chieftain and Chieftain Adept offer significantly faster healing than the Runner. Combining this with a strong defensive outfit like the Shield-Weaver makes you incredibly resilient.
