Following the successful launch of Quidditch Champions, Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced plans for a Hogwarts Legacy sequel. This follows the remarkable success of the original 2023 title, which became the year's best-selling game.

A Sequel Expected Within a Few Years

The sequel to the hit Harry Potter action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy— boasting over 24 million copies sold—is a top priority for Warner Bros. Discovery. This confirmation came from Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels at Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, as reported by Variety.

Wiedenfels stated, "A successor to Hogwarts Legacy is definitely one of our highest priorities for the next couple of years. We anticipate significant growth from our games business, and this sequel will be a major contributor."

Earlier this year, Warner Bros. Games' David Haddad highlighted the game's exceptional replayability as a key factor in its success in an interview with Variety. He noted, "Many players have returned to the game multiple times," emphasizing that the game's appeal extends beyond sales figures. Haddad added, "It presented Harry Potter in a fresh, engaging way, allowing players to truly immerse themselves in the world and story."

This immersive experience, Haddad believes, is what resonated so powerfully with players, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the sales charts. He further commented, "That's a position usually held by sequels from established franchises, so we're incredibly proud to have achieved this."
