Hearthstone Unveils Lost City of Un'Goro in New Update

Excitement is building as Hearthstone prepares to unveil *The Lost City of Un’Goro*, its upcoming expansion set to launch on July 8th. This new adventure introduces 145 collectible cards, innovative mechanics, and a compelling storyline that takes players deep into the heart of the mysterious Un’Goro Crater.

Fans of the franchise may recall the original journey into Un’Goro from 2017, but this latest expedition offers an entirely fresh experience. This time around, players will follow Loh—a curious Tortollan explorer—as he ventures into the ancient city with his guide Umbra, who harbors secrets of her own. Alongside them is Elise Starseeker, bringing familiar faces and unexpected twists to the narrative-driven campaign.

New Mechanics for Strategic Depth

A standout addition in this set is the new Kindred keyword, which encourages synergy-based play. If you played a minion of the same type or a spell from the same school on your previous turn, Kindred cards trigger powerful effects—rewarding thoughtful deck-building and strategic turns.

Quest cards make a triumphant return as well, with each class receiving a unique Legendary Quest. These cards start in your opening hand and offer game-changing rewards once completed, adding another layer of depth to class-specific strategies.

Story & Map Cards Enhance Exploration

To further immerse players in the theme of discovery, two new card types have been introduced: Story and Map cards. Story cards recount past expeditions into Un’Goro, while Map cards allow you to Discover a card. Play your chosen card immediately, and you’ll also gain one of the other two options—offering both flexibility and reward for quick decision-making.

Expansion Bundles and Exclusive Rewards

As with every major release, Blizzard offers a variety of pre-purchase bundles to enhance your collection. In addition to standard Pre-Purchase and Mega Bundle options, a special Sequence Bundle becomes available after purchasing the first two bundles. The Mega Bundle includes 80 regular packs, 10 golden packs, signature and golden Legendary cards, four Tavern Tickets, and exclusive cosmetic items featuring Umbra’s design.
