Pokémon TCG Shatters World Record with Epic 24-Hour Card Opening Marathon

The Pokémon Company International has achieved a new Guinness World Record, setting a new benchmark for the longest unboxing livestream. On November 26th, 2024, a star-studded team of popular online personalities celebrated the launch of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion by opening over 20,000 Pokémon TCG cards in a non-stop 24-hour marathon.

This record-breaking event, streamed live on Pokémon's Twitch channel, featured Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. The trio tirelessly opened 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products, culminating in an impressive collection of over 20,000 cards, as confirmed by the official Pokémon press release.

Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his enthusiasm for the accomplishment: “It's been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators.”

The celebration doesn't end there. The Pokémon Company promises further giveaways on the participating content creators' channels in the coming weeks. The massive card collection will be organized and donated to charities, including Barnardo's in the UK, before the holidays.

Released on November 8th, 2024, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks transports players to the Terarium, a key location in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Indigo Disk DLC. The expansion introduces powerful Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as Archaludon ex with its formidable Metal Defender ability.

Fans can also find iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex. The set also features captivating illustration rare and special illustration rare cards, including Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas, showcasing serene ocean scenes. New Tera Pokémon ex like Pallossand ex and Flygon ex add exciting options for TCG players.

The expansion is also available digitally via the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering in-game rewards for collecting and battling with the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
