Essence Stones, newly introduced in the March 2025 update for *Fields of Mistria*, are pivotal items essential for activating several new game features that enhance daily tasks. Here’s a comprehensive guide on locating, crafting, and utilizing these versatile stones.

Following the March 2025 update, Essence Stones can be discovered within chests scattered throughout the mines of *Fields of Mistria*. My first encounter with these stones occurred while searching for offerings to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60, but they can appear on any level across various biomes. Be cautious of mimic enemies that masquerade as chests and can harm you upon interaction.

Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. While smaller stones are more common, diligent exploration may lead to finding larger ones. If you're struggling to find them, consider crafting them using the Stone Refinery, which you can build within the mines.

Crafting Essence Stones is facilitated at the Stone Refinery in *Fields of Mistria*, a new addition introduced in the March 2025 update. This facility is part of a story quest where Adeline enlists your help alongside Olric and Errol to construct it within the mines.

To build the Stone Refinery, gather the following materials:

  • x200 Wood
  • x400 Stone
  • x5,000 Tesserae

Once operational, the Stone Refinery allows you to craft Essence Stones of various sizes using Stone and Essence. The crafting requirements vary by size, as detailed below:

**Tiny Essence Stone**x5 Stone
x5 Essence
**Small Essence Stone**x10 Stone
x25 Essence
**Medium Essence Stone**x20 Stone
x50 Essence
**Large Essence Stone**x40 Stone
x100 Essence

Beyond Essence Stones, the Stone Refinery also enables crafting common materials, Refined Stone, and rare items like Obsidian and Diamond, making it a crucial hub for resources needed for various projects in Mistria.

How To Use Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria

The March 2025 update brought the auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics to *Fields of Mistria*, both of which rely on Essence Stones for operation. Larger stones provide a longer charge duration, with Large Essence Stones offering the most extended use.

The auto-petter mechanic is linked to the Animal Sprite Statue, which you can place in Large Barns and Coops. This statue ensures all animals are automatically petted daily when powered by an Essence Stone. You can find this statue in a hidden cave near Errol’s house in the Narrows, accessible by using the Dragon’s Breath spell. Additional statues can be crafted once the item is unlocked.

The sprinkler mechanic is activated by the Water Sprite Statue, which can be placed anywhere on your farm to water crops within a 2-tile radius when an Essence Stone is used. You can locate this statue and its crafting scroll on a small island east of the beach, beyond the Lighthouse area. Access the island by swimming and using Dragon’s Breath to enter.

As *Fields of Mistria* continues to evolve with updates from NPC Studio, Essence Stones are likely to play an increasingly significant role in gameplay.
