Speculation Mounts: Will GTA 6 Arrive on PC?

Take-Two Interactive's CEO hints at a potential future PC release for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), fueling anticipation among fans. While an official PC announcement remains absent, the company's history and recent statements suggest a PC port is likely.

PC Release Unconfirmed, Yet Take-Two Shows Enthusiasm

During a February 10, 2025 interview with IGN, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed platform release strategies. He noted that while Civilization 7 will launch simultaneously on consoles and PC, Rockstar Games often employs a staggered approach. Referencing past releases of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, Zelnick indicated that a similar strategy could be used for GTA 6. This suggests a PC release is probable, although not confirmed for launch.

The historical pattern of major Rockstar titles eventually reaching PC bolsters this expectation. While fans hoped for a day-one PC release for GTA 6, Zelnick's comments imply a later PC launch is a strong possibility.

Strong PC Sales Projections Fuel Confidence

Zelnick highlighted the increasing importance of the PC market, noting that PC versions of multiplatform games can contribute up to 40% of total sales. He expressed confidence in GTA 6's success across all platforms, including consoles, despite recent reports of declining console sales. He believes GTA 6's release will boost console sales, while simultaneously acknowledging the significant and growing PC market share.

GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release, but a concrete PC release date remains unannounced. Stay tuned for updates on our Grand Theft Auto 6 page.

Expansion to Nintendo Switch 2?

Take-Two's Q3 Fiscal Conference Call (February 6, 2025) revealed interest in bringing their titles to the Nintendo Switch 2. Zelnick cited a shift in Nintendo's target audience and the Switch 2's enhanced capabilities as factors in this decision. The inclusion of Civilization 7 on the Switch 2 further solidifies this commitment to the platform.
