Gran Saga Shuts Down Next Month

NPIXEL has made the official announcement that Gran Saga will be shutting down, marking the end of its brief international journey. The service termination is scheduled for April 30th, 2025, with in-app purchases and new downloads already disabled. This closure comes shortly after the global launch of Gran Saga in November 2024, which unfortunately only managed to last about six months.

Originally launched in Japan in 2021 to much acclaim, Gran Saga faced significant challenges in the global market. The decision to shut down stems from financial instability and the struggle to sustain the service. The mobile gaming landscape is fiercely competitive, dominated by established titles with loyal followings. For a new game to succeed, it must offer something revolutionary, a bar that Gran Saga couldn't meet despite its initial success in Japan.

The closure of Gran Saga is part of a broader trend affecting gacha RPGs. Just last month, I reported on the closure of My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero, which was not an isolated incident.
