Google Play Store to Auto-Launch Installed Apps

Google Play Store may soon eliminate the "download and forget" problem for apps. A new feature, "App Auto Open," is reportedly under development. This optional feature will automatically launch apps immediately after installation.

The Details

Android Authority's report, based on analysis of Play Store version 41.4.19, reveals this potential addition. While not officially confirmed by Google, the feature is expected to provide a notification—possibly with a sound or vibration—for approximately five seconds after a download completes. This notification will allow users to quickly access their newly installed app.

Importantly, App Auto Open will be entirely optional, allowing users to enable or disable the feature based on their preference. This means users can choose whether or not they wish to have their downloaded apps automatically launched.

While a release date remains unannounced, we will provide updates as soon as official information becomes available from Google. In the meantime, check out our other recent news, including the Android release of Hyper Light Drifter Special Edition.
