GOG Resurrects Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 on PC

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 06,2025

GOG resurrects the cult classic survival horror games, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, with DRM-free PC re-releases. Both titles, originally released on PlayStation, are now available via GOG's Preservation Program, ensuring their original content remains untouched.

Capcom's 1999 release of Dino Crisis, followed by Dino Crisis 2 in 2000, marked a significant era in gaming. While Dino Crisis 3 (2003) was an Xbox exclusive, a new entry or HD remake remains elusive despite fan demand. Capcom's focus on titles like Exoprimal and the statements from creator Shinji Mikami seemingly dashed hopes for a revival.

PlayGOG's release is a welcome addition, offering improved compatibility and accessibility for modern systems. GOG highlights the preservation effort, stating Regina's iconic line, "You're extinct!", no longer applies to the games themselves.

GOG's Dino Crisis Enhancements:

  • Six language localizations (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese).
  • Original, Arrange, and Operation Wipe Out modes.

GOG's Dino Crisis 2 Enhancements:

  • Full Windows 10 and 11 compatibility.
  • Two language localizations (English, Japanese).
  • Easy difficulty, Dino Colosseum, and Dino Duel modes.
  • Improved DirectX renderer.
  • Enhanced rendering options (windowed mode, V-Sync, gamma correction, integer scaling, anti-aliasing, etc.).
  • Improved music playback and volume scaling.
  • Improved item rendering and fogging.

Furthermore, GOG launched its Dreamlist, a community voting system to influence future game releases on the platform. This allows players to directly impact which games GOG pursues for revival or addition to its catalog.
