Geometric Arcade Gem: Frike Debuts on Android

Some video games get your heart racing and blood pressure spiking—that's what makes them thrilling. Others have the opposite effect, calming you into a meditative state. Both types offer unique appeal.

Frike, the debut Android game from indie developer chakahacka, uniquely blends both experiences.

The objective in Frike is simple: survive as long as possible. You control a floating triangle, equally divided into purple, orange, and green sections. Two on-screen buttons (left) control ascent and descent, while a right-side button rotates your triangular protagonist.

Frike features a single, yet expansive level—it's infinite. You'll never reach the end.

Scattered throughout Frike's atmospheric, abstract world are colored blocks (white, purple, orange, and green). Scoring involves rotating your triangle to align its corners with matching colored squares.

Colliding with too many mismatched or white squares results in your triangle's destruction. However, some squares offer bonus effects, slowing your descent to allow for more precise maneuvering.

Frike exemplifies a minimalist arcade-casual game. While high-score chasing can be intense, it also provides a relaxing experience, allowing players to simply navigate obstacles and appreciate the visuals.

Beyond its understated graphics, Frike boasts a calming soundtrack of resonant chimes and metallic sounds.

If this sounds appealing, download Frike for free from the Google Play Store.
