Genki at CES: A Closer Look at the Nintendo Switch 2 Mockup

Genki, renowned for its gaming accessories, unveiled a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, revealing key design features and sparking further discussion. The mockup, reportedly based on a black market acquisition, accurately reflects the console's dimensions and showcased several intriguing details.

The model highlighted a noticeable size increase, approaching the dimensions of Valve's Steam Deck. Key features included seemingly magnetic Joy-Cons, a second USB-C port, and a mysterious "C" button.

Genki CEO Eddie Tsai confirmed the magnetic Joy-Cons in an interview with The Verge. The SL and SR buttons utilize magnets, detaching via a pin mechanism activated by a button on each Joy-Con. Despite the change from sliding rails, Tsai assures users of a secure grip during gameplay.

Further details emerged regarding the Joy-Con's "mounting channel," which incorporates an optical sensor. This suggests potential functionality as a mouse, supported by recently leaked images showing similar sensors.

While larger than its predecessor, the Switch 2 remains slim enough to fit within the existing Switch dock. However, design modifications prevent compatibility. The purpose of the additional USB-C port and the "C" button remains unknown.
