'Back to the Future' Writer Confirms No Prequel, Spinoff, or Sequel Ever

The iconic *Back to the Future* franchise will remain untouched, according to one of its screenwriters, Bob Gale. Amidst renewed speculation about a potential TV series, fueled by the success of *Cobra Kai*, Gale firmly quashed any hopes of expanding the beloved series. In a candid conversation with People, he expressed frustration over constant inquiries about a *Back to the Future 4*, a prequel, or any spin-off, stating emphatically, "Never."

"I don't know why they keep talking about that!" Gale remarked. "It's like they think if they mention it enough times, we'll actually go ahead with it. But it's just fine the way it is. It's not perfect, but as Bob Zemeckis used to say, 'It's perfect enough.'"

While Gale's stance is clear, he acknowledges that Hollywood could theoretically force a revival. However, he believes that executive producer Steven Spielberg would not approve. "If the juggernaut of corporate America or corporate international mishigas says, 'If you don't agree to this, we're going to kill your children,' alright, well, no, we don't want our children killed," Gale jested. He further emphasized Spielberg's respect for their decision, noting, "Steven, just like he won't allow another *E.T.*, he totally respects the fact that we don't want any more *Back to the Future*. He gets it and always stood behind that. And thank you, Steven."

Gale's comments align with his previous sentiments. Earlier in February, he bluntly addressed fans hoping for a *Back to the Future 4*, saying, "People always say, 'When are you going to do *Back to the Future 4*?' And we say, 'F**k you.'"

The original *Back to the Future* film, released in 1985, follows high school student Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) who is accidentally sent back in time by the eccentric scientist Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd). The movie became one of the most iconic sci-fi films of all time, leading to two successful sequels.
