Forspoken Flops: Unwanted on PS Plus

Forspoken, despite its free PS Plus offering, continues to spark heated debate among players almost a year after its release.

Opinions on its value remain sharply divided, even between those who played it for free and those who purchased it at full price. The December 2024 PS Plus Extra and Premium lineup announcement revealed surprisingly positive player anticipation for Forspoken (alongside Sonic Frontiers).

However, a significant portion of those who tried the free version abandoned it after a short time, criticizing the "absurd dialogue" and weak narrative. While some appreciated the combat, parkour mechanics, and exploration, the overall sentiment is that the game's story and dialogue significantly detract from the experience.

It seems unlikely that the PS Plus release will revitalize Forspoken's reception; its inconsistent nature remains a major drawback. The action RPG follows Frey, a New Yorker transported to the breathtaking but perilous land of Athia. There, she must master newfound magical abilities to navigate the expansive world, fight monstrous creatures, and defeat powerful matriarchs known as the Tants, all in a desperate bid to return home.
