"Evil Dead: Game Removed from Stores 3 Years Post-Launch, Servers Stay Online"

The curtains have fallen on *Evil Dead: The Game*, an asymmetric multiplayer title inspired by the iconic action horror franchise, as its publisher, Saber Interactive, has begun the process of pulling it from digital storefronts. Launched in 2022 across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, the game received an 8/10 in IGN's review, which praised its compelling and exhilarating gameplay, despite some rough edges reminiscent of the horror/comedies it draws from.

Despite the launch of a Game of the Year Edition a year later, the game struggled to maintain player engagement. The planned Nintendo Switch version was canceled in September 2023, and further content development was halted. Now, three years after its initial release, *Evil Dead: The Game* is no longer available for purchase, though its servers will remain online, allowing existing owners to continue playing.

Saber Interactive confirmed this change in a statement on the game's Steam page:

We can confirm we've begun the process of removing the game from digital storefronts. Anyone who has purchased the game will still be able to play it as we plan to keep our servers online for everyone.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to our community, to those who have been part of the game from the very beginning, and those who have recently joined us. We appreciate all of your support.

The decision to delist the game has sparked a wave of negative reviews on its Steam page, with many players mourning its effective demise. The overall user review rating remains 'mixed'. Amidst the disappointment, one player with over 380 hours of gameplay left a positive review, stating, "The end is nigh. It was fun while it lasted, lads. I mean that."

Saber Interactive, known for last year's hit *Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2*, is currently working on several other licensed movie games, including *John Carpenter's Toxic Commando*, *Jurassic Park Survival*, and an untitled *Avatar: The Last Airbender* game. Additionally, *Turok: Origins* and *Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3* are also in development.
