Escape Academy, a highly-rated escape-room style puzzle game, is the Epic Games Store's free offering for January 16th, 2025. This marks the fourth free game offered by the EGS in 2025 and, with an OpenCritic score of 80 and an 88% recommendation rate, is currently the highest-rated free game offered so far this year.

This free giveaway runs for one week, from January 16th to 23rd, replacing Turmoil on the platform. Developed by Coin Crew Games, Escape Academy challenges players to hone their escape room skills as students at the titular academy, aiming to become "escape room masters." The game, initially released in July 2022, offers both single-player and well-regarded online/split-screen multiplayer modes.

Interestingly, Escape Academy was previously offered as a free game on the EGS on January 1st, 2024, but this giveaway provides players with a full week to claim the title. This is especially beneficial for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, as the game is slated to leave the service on January 15th.
