Elden Ring Nightreign's overview trailer has unveiled more exciting features and teased two new classes as the game approaches its eagerly awaited launch. Dive into the details of each expedition and get a sneak peek at some of the game's captivating cosmetics.
Elden Ring Nightreign's release is on the horizon, and fans of the multiplayer Souls RPG are buzzing with anticipation. FromSoftware released an in-depth overview trailer on May 2, highlighting the game's lore, features, mechanics, and more.
The trailer describes "ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN as a co-op survival action game where players navigate a vast and dangerous field alongside others. As Nightfarers, you'll fight through the endless night, taking on hordes of vicious foes over three intense days."
The trailer provides a comprehensive look at what to expect, detailing the gameplay loop. Players start their journey in the land of Limveld, tasked with hunting down the Nightlords who dominate the region. The challenge involves defeating enemies, uncovering treasures, and more.
The gameplay rhythm involves gathering resources by day and confronting bosses by night. As the days progress, the map shrinks, and new enemies emerge. The climax comes at the end of the third day when players must defeat a formidable Nightlord to conclude their expedition successfully.
The trailer also notes that "the layout of Limveld changes with each visit," ensuring that bases, enemy types, chest rewards, and other elements are randomized. This variability means players can face sudden ambushes or unpredictable events like meteor strikes or volcanic eruptions during their explorations.
The trailer offered a glimpse of the final two classes in Nightreign, yet to be officially revealed. During the character selection screen, a new character called the Executor was spotted.
The Executor appears to be a knight wielding a sword that can be imbued with special powers. A brief clip showed him parrying and countering an enemy. Towards the end of the Nightfarers' segment, another character was teased—a female with greyish hair wielding a harp.
Fans can look forward to character trailers for these Nightfarers in the coming weeks as the game nears its release.
Nightreign features a base called the Roundtable Hold, where players can prepare for their battles in Limveld. This hidden sanctuary allows players to equip relics, purchase items, and customize their characters.
Relics, which are equippable items found during expeditions, enhance players' abilities. Experimenting with different relic combinations can significantly alter gameplay, encouraging players to find what best suits their style. These relics can also be bought from a Jar Merchant at the base using a currency called "Murk," earned as battle rewards.
The "fitting mirror" at the Roundtable Hold allows players to change their characters' outfits. These costumes are purely cosmetic and do not impact gameplay. The trailer showcased some of the available outfits, including nostalgic nods to classic Souls costumes like Solaire of Astora, Faraam, the God of War, and Ringfinger Leonhard from Dark Souls 3.
Players can also collect "fragments of lost memories" during their expeditions, which enrich the lore of each Nightfarer. These memories can introduce new objectives, revealing the origins and purposes of the Nightfarers upon completion.
Nightreign's PC requirements are surprisingly manageable compared to its challenging gameplay. FromSoftware disclosed the minimum and recommended specs on April 28 via Twitter (X), which are accessible to most gaming setups.
The minimum specs require an Intel Core i5 10600 or Ryzen 5 5500, while the recommended specs suggest an Intel Core i5 11500 or Ryzen 5600. Memory requirements are close, with 12 GB for minimum and 16 GB for recommended setups.
Graphics card needs are similarly modest, with the minimum requiring a GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580, and the recommended a GTX 1070 or Radeon RX Vega 56. FromSoftware's focus on optimization is evident with the game's low 30 GB storage requirement, earning praise from fans.
As the release date of May 30, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC approaches, FromSoftware's latest reveals continue to build excitement for this upcoming multiplayer co-op survival game. The overview trailer has given fans plenty to look forward to as they count down to the launch.
