"Elden Ring Introduces Two New Classes for Nintendo Switch 2 Tarnished Edition"

Author:Kristen Update:May 26,2025

Elden Ring is set to make its mark on the Nintendo Switch 2 with the launch of the Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. This version promises to bring a few exciting new elements to FromSoftware's epic adventure, including new character classes and fresh appearances for Torrent, the beloved spirit horse.

During the "FROMSOFTWARE GAMES EVENT Spring 2025" held in Tokyo on May 6, Famitsu reported on several new features coming to the Tarnished Edition. Among these, two new character classes were introduced: the "Knight of Ides" and "Heavy Armored Knight." While specific details on these classes are scarce, they are accompanied by four new armor sets, two of which will be exclusive to the Tarnished Edition, while the other two can be earned in-game. Additionally, new weapons and skills were teased, adding further depth to the gameplay experience.

For fans of Torrent, there's good news too: the spirit horse will receive three new appearances. These enhancements will be part of the Tarnished Edition, which also includes the acclaimed Shadow of the Erdtree content. However, FromSoftware has assured that these new elements will be available across other platforms through the Tarnished Pack DLC, which is expected to be priced affordably.

Introducing new classes is a strategic move, especially for players starting fresh on the Switch 2. It offers a chance to experience Elden Ring with a new twist, which could be particularly appealing to those who have already explored the game on different platforms.

Elden Ring's impact is undeniable, having surpassed 30 million sales worldwide—a monumental milestone that underscores its widespread appeal. As it makes its way to the Switch 2, there's every reason to believe this figure will continue to grow.

While no specific release date has been announced for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on the Nintendo Switch 2 or for the Tarnished Pack DLC, both are slated to arrive sometime in 2025.
