As anticipated, EA is setting its sights on the Nintendo Switch 2 as a promising platform for its gaming portfolio. During a recent financial call, CEO Andrew Wilson responded positively when questioned about Nintendo's next-generation console, hinting at EA's intention to bring a variety of its titles to the new system.

Wilson specifically highlighted EA's lucrative sports franchises, such as Madden and FC, expressing optimism that they could gain significant traction on the Nintendo Switch 2. He also mentioned The Sims as another title with potential to thrive on the console.

"Anytime a new console enters the market, it's beneficial for us as it opens up opportunities to reach and engage new players," Wilson stated. "Our franchises have historically performed well on Nintendo platforms. We expect that games like FC, Madden, and others could see substantial success on this platform, much like they have in the past."

He further elaborated on the success of The Sims and the My Sims cozy bundle, noting that 50% of its players were new to EA, which represents a significant opportunity for growth. "While nothing is set in our current models, we anticipate that a great new console in the market will allow us to tap into new players and communities, leveraging our intellectual property to great effect," he added.

Are you planning on getting a Switch 2? ---------------------------------------

While it's no surprise that EA plans to release Madden and FC on the Nintendo Switch 2, fans are curious about the specifics of these versions. Historically, EA has offered "legacy" editions of FIFA on the original Switch, but with the rebranded FC franchise, they've aimed for feature parity across platforms. Given the enhanced capabilities of the Switch 2, it's possible that FC 26 could closely resemble its counterparts on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

With the announcement of the Switch 2, the gaming community is beginning to piece together what to expect in terms of game offerings. A variety of third-party titles are rumored to be in development for the console. In an interview with IGN, the developer of Civilization 7, Firaxis, expressed interest in the Switch 2's Joy-Con mouse mode. Additionally, French gaming company Nacon, known for titles like Greedfall 2, Test Drive Unlimited, and RoboCop: Rogue City, has confirmed that it has games ready for the Switch 2. The much-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong is also rumored to be heading to the new console.

On the Nintendo front, a new Mario Kart game is in the works, with more details expected to be revealed at a Nintendo Direct in April.
