Dragon Quest X Mobile Launches in Japan

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 08,2025

Long-time fans of the Dragon Quest series are in for a treat, at least if they're based in Japan. The much-talked-about Dragon Quest X, which blends traditional elements with MMORPG features, is set to launch on mobile devices. Specifically, the offline version of Dragon Quest X will be available tomorrow for iOS and Android users in Japan. This version, which allows for a single-player experience, comes at a discounted price, making it an attractive option for fans looking to dive into the world of Dragon Quest on their mobile devices.

As reported by Gematsu, this offline iteration of Dragon Quest X follows the original's release back in 2012 and the offline console and PC version released in 2022. Dragon Quest X stands out in the series for its real-time combat and MMORPG elements, a departure from the usual turn-based gameplay. Interestingly, Ubitu was once slated to bring Dragon Quest X to mobile back in 2013, though that plan never came to fruition.

Dragon Quest X Mobile Release

Unfortunately, for fans outside of Japan, a global release seems unlikely at the moment. The original Dragon Quest X was exclusive to Japan, and there's been no concrete news about the offline mobile version making its way internationally. As a dedicated Dragon Quest fan who spent countless hours playing Sentinels of the Starry Sky, the prospect of experiencing Dragon Quest X on mobile, even in its offline form, is incredibly appealing.
