RGG Studio promises a unique mix of intense drama and comedic chaos in their upcoming title, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. This latest installment will push the boundaries of reality while delivering a compelling "manly drama," according to the developers.

A Serious Majima, But Still Plenty of Fun

While the Like a Dragon series is renowned for its humor, particularly Majima's comedic antics, director Masayoshi Yokoyama reveals a "more serious" side to Majima in this iteration, at least initially. Producer Ryosuke Horii emphasizes the core "manly drama," highlighting Majima's pursuit of his goals and the bonds he forges along the way. He clarifies, "The goofing off isn't the main point – there's a manly drama at the heart of it. Of course, there are some crazy detours, but overall, it's a straightforward tale of a passionate man."

Horii further explains the unique aspects of Majima that set him apart from series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, stating that leveraging these differences was crucial to making Majima a compelling lead. The team aimed for a balance between the pirate theme, Majima's personality, and the core Like a Dragon spirit, a challenge they readily embraced. The result promises a thrilling experience that avoids predictability, opting for a wilder, yet dramatically sound, gameplay experience.

Majima's Maji Festival: A Japanese Celebration

To celebrate the game's launch, RGG Studio is hosting Majima's Maji Festival across six Japanese cities. The tour, which began in Sapporo on December 1st, 2024, concludes in Nagoya (January 18th) and Tokyo (January 25th).
