How Does Dragon Ball Daima’s Finale Explain Goku Never Using Super Saiyan 4 in Super?

The climactic battle in *Dragon Ball Daima*'s finale pits Gomah against Goku, who unveils a shocking new transformation. Many viewers anticipated an explanation for Super Saiyan 4's absence in *Super*, and the finale attempts to address this.

In episode 19, after Glorio's wish restores the Z Fighters to their adult forms, Vegeta's Super Saiyan 3 assault on Gomah fails. Goku then utilizes the power granted by Neva in the previous episode, a transformation he later identifies as "Super Saiyan 4."

Employing this form, Goku engages Gomah in a powerful showdown. His Kamehameha attack breaches both Gomah and the Demon Realm itself, paving the way for Piccolo to strike. While Piccolo inflicts significant damage, Majin Kuu delivers the final blows, vanquishing Gomah and freeing the Demon Realm.

While the narrative seems poised to explain Super Saiyan 4 as Demon Realm-exclusive or Neva-specific, it takes a different turn. Goku reveals to Vegeta that he attained this form simply through post-Buu training, with no mention of a mind wipe, leaving *Daima*'s canonicity ambiguous.

Is *Dragon Ball Daima* Canon to *Super*?

Super Saiyan 4's introduction raises crucial questions about *Daima*'s place within the *Dragon Ball* canon. Goku's failure to utilize this incredibly powerful form against Beerus in *Super*, especially with Earth's fate at stake, seems inexplicable. While forgetting might be plausible, Vegeta's reaction to being surpassed again seems unlikely.

However, a post-credits scene offers a potential escape route. The Demon Realm is revealed to contain two more Evil Third Eyes. A potential second season, involving these objects falling into the wrong hands, could provide a mechanism for Super Saiyan 4's return and subsequent loss by Goku. This remains pure speculation, but its absence could otherwise create a significant plot hole.

This, then, is *Dragon Ball Daima*'s explanation for Goku's unused Super Saiyan 4 form in *Super*. For those interested, here's a link to the anime's opening theme song. *Dragon Ball Daima* is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
