Dragon Age: The Veilguard Surprise Free Weapon DLC Released After Months

Author:Kristen Update:May 06,2025

BioWare has nearly moved on from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but the dedicated remaining team has managed to surprise fans by quietly adding a small DLC weapons pack to the game. This unexpected update has stirred excitement among the Dragon Age community.

Yesterday, the RPG's Steam page was updated to include free add-on content known as the Rook's Weapons Appearance Offer. Despite EA's earlier indications that Dragon Age: The Veilguard would not receive much support moving forward, this new content feels like a delightful surprise, especially since the fifth patch in January promised that future updates would primarily focus on addressing game-breaking bugs. Even though it's a modest addition, it's certainly a welcome one for fans.

Interestingly, the Rook's Weapons Appearances bundle is exclusively available to current owners of the game and those who purchase it on PC before April 8, 2025. While there's no detailed description of the bundle's contents, players have discovered that it includes a set of Watchful skins accessible in the Rook's in-game room. It remains uncertain whether this offer will extend to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions of the game.

One Steam review noted, “Even if these appearances aren't the most, uh, beautiful things ever, they do give spooky eldritch horror vibes!” Meanwhile, a Redditor commented, "It's cosmetic DLC, but it's essentially free DLC for a game that's practically no longer getting newer content. I'll live with that."

Dragon Age: The Veilguard received positive reviews upon its October launch, but according to EA, it did not connect with a wide enough audience. In late January, key team members announced they were leaving BioWare, with much of the staff either being laid off or reassigned within the company. EA informed IGN at the time that the studio was shifting to focus entirely on the next Mass Effect.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard was added to the PlayStation Plus March 2025 titles just four months after its release. No further plans for its future have been disclosed.
