Dr Disrespect's Midnight Society Shuts Down, Game Cancelled

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 13,2025

Midnight Society, the game studio co-founded by streamer Guy "Dr. Disrespect" Beahm, has announced its closure and the cancellation of its upcoming FPS game, Deadrop.

In an X post, the studio stated, "Today we are announcing Midnight Society will be closing its doors after three incredible years, with an amazing team of over 55 developers." The announcement also included a plea for employment opportunities for its team members.

Founded by Beahm, along with Call of Duty and Halo veterans Robert Bowling and Quinn Delhoy, Midnight Society aimed to deliver Deadrop, a free-to-play FPS leveraging the team's extensive experience. While targeting a 2024 release, the game ultimately missed its launch window.

Midnight Society parted ways with Beahm in 2024 following the streamer's admission of exchanging inappropriate messages with a minor via Twitch Whispers. Despite this split, development on Deadrop continued until the studio's recent shutdown.

Set in a fictional "80s never ended" universe, Deadrop featured characters sporting Daft Punk-esque helmets and wielding a mix of firearms and melee weapons. Gameplay was designed as a PvPvE extraction shooter.

Midnight Society joins a growing list of studios facing closure or layoffs amidst challenging times for the games industry, impacting companies such as Ubisoft, BioWare, Phoenix Labs, and many others.
