Don't Starve Together: Mobile Launch Confirmed, Netflix Plans Dropped

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 14,2025

Don't Starve Together, initially announced for Netflix Games in June 2024, will not be coming to the streaming service after all. However, the good news is that the mobile version for iOS and Android is still on track.

Playdigious and Klei Entertainment are collaborating to bring this survival adventure to mobile devices worldwide via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The game, known for its darkly humorous Tim Burton-esque style, challenges players to survive on a hostile island by gathering resources and avoiding starvation as one of several quirky characters.

While a precise release date remains unannounced, both developers assure us an official launch date is forthcoming.

Netflix's Shifting Focus?

The cancellation of Don't Starve Together's Netflix Games release raises questions about the platform's future commitment to indie titles. The game's significant popularity and status as a highly regarded survival game makes this development particularly noteworthy. This, coupled with other indie game cancellations like Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, suggests a potential shift in Netflix Games' strategy.

The loss of Don't Starve Together is a blow, especially considering Netflix's indie game catalog has been a strong selling point for many subscribers.
