Discover Un'Goro's Secrets in Hearthstone's Next Expansion

Exciting news for Hearthstone fans—The Lost City of Un’Goro is making its way back to the game on July 8th, bringing with it a fresh storyline, new mechanics, and a host of exciting cards. While the original Un’Goro Crater expansion first appeared in 2017, this new chapter introduces an entirely updated experience filled with adventure, strategy, and discovery.

What’s New in The Lost City of Un’Goro Expansion?

This latest expansion delivers 145 brand-new cards, a fresh keyword mechanic, and reimagined returning features that breathe life into your gameplay. It also tells a compelling new story centered around a daring expedition into the mysterious and long-lost city hidden deep within the crater.

The journey follows Loh, a curious Tortollan explorer who leads a group into the heart of the lost city. Alongside him are familiar faces: Elise Starseeker, serving as the expedition’s navigator, and Umbra, a former Tortollan leader turned guide. However, Loh remains unaware of Umbra’s secret agenda, which gradually unfolds throughout the campaign, adding depth and intrigue to the narrative.

Introducing the Kindred Keyword

One of the most exciting additions to Hearthstone in this expansion is the all-new Kindred keyword. When you play a card with Kindred, it triggers a bonus effect if you played a card of the same minion type or spell school during your previous turn. Importantly, Kindred activates based on the card you played one full turn before—not the same turn—encouraging thoughtful deck building and strategic play.

Quest Cards Return

Legendary Quests are back! Each class receives a new 1-cost Legendary spell that starts in your opening hand. Complete the specific conditions outlined on the Quest to unlock a powerful reward. These quests offer a unique playstyle for each class and add variety to your deck-building options.

Digging Deeper Into the Lore

The storytelling doesn’t stop there. This expansion includes seven special Story cards that revisit key moments from the original Un’Goro set. These cards provide a deeper look into the past expeditions of the crater, referencing important events and characters that shaped Azeroth’s history.

Map Cards: Discover and Decide

Six new Map cards make their debut in this expansion. When you play a Map, you’ll discover one of three possible cards. If you play the chosen card during the same turn, you'll also gain one of the two unselected options. But if you wait until the next turn, only the selected card remains—making timing a crucial part of your strategy.
