Deltarune Chapter 3 and 4 Will Carry Over Saves From 1 and 2

Exciting news for fans of the Deltarune series: Toby Fox, the mastermind behind both Undertale and Deltarune, has provided a fresh update on the testing phase for Chapters 3 and 4. Dive in to learn about the latest on console testing and what fans can anticipate from the upcoming chapters.

Deltarune’s Console Testing Going Smoothly

In a recent post on his official Bluesky account, Toby Fox shared that the console testing for Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 is progressing well, despite the considerable work still ahead. "Still console testing. There are fewer bugs, but there's a lot to go through. (Haven't even tested PS5 yet)," Fox noted, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to refine the game. Alongside this, Fox and his team are working on a feature that will allow players to transfer their saves from the demo (Chapters 1 and 2) on console versions to the full game upon its release. "I hope it works!" Fox expressed optimistically, highlighting the recent acquisition of the necessary technology to make this possible.

With the beta testing showing promising results, fans can look forward to the release of Chapters 3 and 4 in 2025, as confirmed by Fox on his Bluesky account.

Fox Namedrops New Character, Tenna

Despite the intense workload involved in preparing Chapters 3 and 4 for release, Toby Fox continues to engage his fans with entertaining updates. Known for his clever use of internet memes and his self-deprecating humor, Fox recently shared a light-hearted anecdote on social media: "I showed my family and friends a minigame I've been working on for DR (Deltarune) and they all described it as ‘a cry for help because your game is not out’." He added that his family saw it as a positive sign, while a friend couldn't stop laughing for about 10 minutes.

This playful update led some fans to speculate that the minigame could be part of the upcoming Chapter 5, as Fox had previously stated in 2024 that the content for Chapters 3 and 4 was complete. Deltarune is planned to span seven chapters in total.

Fox also mentioned a character named Tenna in his post: "Same friend who played Chapter 3 like over a year ago also told me ‘I miss Tenna’ and I was like ‘man that's something no one in the world has ever said huh’." Tenna, a character yet to be officially introduced in Deltarune, was first revealed during the Spamton Sweepstakes campaign for the Child’s Play charity in September 2022. Fox's mention confirms Tenna's inclusion in the upcoming Chapter 3.

Deltarune serves as a parallel title and successor to 2015's Undertale, incorporating many of the original game's mechanics and quirks while introducing a new story and cast. Players will join Kris, Susie, and Ralsei on their quest to save the world.
