Deino Evolution Revealed: Discover the Secrets of Hydreigon's Lineage

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 21,2025

This guide details how to obtain and utilize Hydreigon, a powerful Dark/Dragon-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Hydreigon's pre-evolutions, Deino and Zweilous, are exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet, necessitating trading or transferring methods for Pokémon Violet players.

Acquiring Deino:

  • Pokémon Scarlet: Deino can be found in the Alfornada Cavern, Dalizapa Passage, Glaseado Mountain, Area Zero, and North Province (Area Two). Higher-level Deino (levels 35-40) reside in Alfornada Cavern and Dalizapa Passage. Koraidon's high jump ability is needed for Alfornada Cavern. Three-star Tera Raids also offer Deino, potentially with its Hidden Ability.
  • Pokémon Violet: Due to version exclusivity, trading via the Union Circle (requires Nintendo Switch Online) or transferring through Pokémon HOME from Pokémon Scarlet, Sword/Shield, or Pokémon GO is necessary. Pokémon HOME instructions:
    1. Move Deino to your Basic Box in Pokémon HOME.
    2. Open Pokémon Violet in HOME and transfer Deino to a PC Box.

Deino and Zweilous Locations:

  • Deino: Alfornada Cavern, Dalizapa Passage, Glaseado Mountain, Area Zero, North Province (Area Two), and 3-star Tera Raids.
  • Zweilous: Dalizapa Passage, Area Zero, Alfornada Cavern, and 4-star Tera Raids.
  • Hydreigon: 5/6-star Tera Raids.

Evolution:

Deino evolves into Zweilous at level 50, and Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64. Utilize auto-battling or Exp. Candies (L and XL recommended) for efficient leveling.

Hydreigon's Strengths and Weaknesses:

Hydreigon boasts a 600 base stat total, excelling in Special Attack and Attack with good Speed. A Timid or Jolly Nature is recommended.

Type Effectiveness:

  • Super Effective Against: Dragon, Ghost, Psychic
  • Weaknesses: Fairy (4x), Fighting, Bug, Dragon, Ice
  • Resistances: Grass, Water, Fire, Electric, Ghost, Dark

Terastallizing mitigates Hydreigon's 4x weakness to Fairy. Flash Cannon (TM) is a crucial Steel-type move. Other recommended moves include Nasty Plot, Dragon Pulse (or Draco Meteor), and Dark Pulse. Consider Hydreigon's movepool to determine its role as a physical or special attacker.
