Capcom announces a remastered version of the original Dead Rising, titled Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, nearly a decade after the last main entry. The original 2006 title, initially exclusive to Xbox 360, received an enhanced port in 2016, but this new remaster promises even better performance and visuals for current-gen consoles.

Following the success of numerous Resident Evil remakes, Capcom's decision to revisit Dead Rising is noteworthy. While Dead Rising 4 (2016) received mixed reviews, possibly contributing to the franchise's hiatus, this remaster suggests a renewed interest. A brief 40-second trailer showcasing Frank West's iconic helicopter jump hints at the game's updated graphics, though platforms and a release date remain unannounced, likely slated for later this year.

This remaster approach contrasts with the complete overhauls seen in the Resident Evil remakes. While hopes for similar ground-up remakes of Dead Rising sequels are diminished, the possibility of a Dead Rising 5 remains. Capcom's focus on the proven success of Resident Evil remakes suggests a strategic prioritization, potentially avoiding diluting resources across two zombie franchises.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster joins a 2024 lineup already rich with successful remasters and remakes, including Persona 3 Reload, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and others. Its release would further bolster the trend of revisiting beloved Xbox 360-era titles, alongside other recent remasters such as Epic Mickey: Rebrushed and Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP.
