Dead Cells' final content drops: Clean Cut and The End is Near are here!

Motion Twin and Evil Empire's Dead Cells, a roguelike that has enjoyed years of continuous free updates, is finally concluding its content updates with the release of "Clean Cut" and "The End is Near." The game's long history of free content, which included new weapons, gear, and enemies, has only ever faced significant criticism when these free updates ceased.

These final updates are a substantial addition, offering four new weapons (including the striking Sewing Scissors and Misericorde), new game modes like Speedrun and Boss Rush DIY, 40 new heads, multiple new enemy types, and even an NPC allowing for on-the-fly head customization. While future development will focus on quality-of-life improvements, this final content injection ensures players will be busy for some time.

A fitting farewell

The outcry surrounding the end of free updates for Dead Cells seems somewhat ironic, given the sheer volume of free content (and paid expansions) delivered over nearly five years. The commitment to long-term bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements will undoubtedly maintain the game's appeal for years to come.
