Bandai Namco’s upcoming Dragon Ball MOBA, Dragon Ball Project: Multi has just announced a release window following the conclusion of successful beta testing. Read on to learn more about the announcement and Dragon Ball Project: Multi.
Dragon Ball Project: Multi, a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game based on the iconic Dragon Ball anime/manga franchise is set to launch in 2025, as announced this week on its official Twitter (X) account. Though no specific release date has been confirmed, the Bandai-published game is expected to be available on Steam and mobile storefronts. The Dragon Ball MOBA recently wrapped up a regional beta test and the devs expressed gratitude to fans who participated. "We sincerely thank everyone for taking part in the Regional [Beta] Test. All the valuable input we have received from our players will help our development team strive to make the game even more entertaining."
Developed by Ganbarion, best known for its work on One Piece video game adaptations, Dragon Ball Project: Multi is a 4v4 team-based strategy game. Players can expect to be able to play iconic characters in the Dragon Ball franchise such as Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Frieza, and more. "The Hero characters you take in control will grow in strength as the round progresses to give you a chance to obliterate enemy players and bosses alike," the game's synopsis reads. Players can also expect extensive customization options, including different skins, as well as entrance and finisher animations.
Fans of the Dragon Ball franchise were particularly intrigued by this MOBA, as the series has typically been associated with the fighting game genre, case in point: the upcoming DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO fighting game developed by Spike Chunsoft. While initial feedback from the Dragon Ball Project: Multi beta test has been positive, some players have voiced concerns. "It's an incredibly simple (and short) MOBA, more akin to something like Pokemon Unite," one player commented on Reddit, additionally noting that the gameplay is "decent fun."
However, another player expressed a particular frustration with the game's currency system, saying that their "only real complaint" is that players are "required to have a 'store level' from a certain amount of in-store in-game currency purchases which makes it feel SUPER grindy to try and push you to buy Heroes." Meanwhile, u/Icechillay said, short and sweet, that they like the game.
