The Blood of Dawnwalker Aims for AAA Quality in a Smaller Package

The open-world vampire RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, developed by former CD Projekt Red (CDPR) developers at Rebel Wolves, is setting its sights on achieving a level of quality comparable to The Witcher 3, but in a more compact form. This ambitious project, led by creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, aims to deliver a high-quality gaming experience despite being the studio's debut title. 30-40 Hour Main Campaign

In an interview with Games Radar, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz emphasized the team's commitment to AAA quality, drawing from their experience at CDPR. "In terms of quality, we definitely look at AAA, because this is where we are coming from, the quality level of The Witcher 3," he explained. Despite being a new studio, Rebel Wolves is far from inexperienced, with its team comprising former CDPR developers who worked on both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. The studio, founded by Mateusz and his brother Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, seeks to offer more creative freedom in their game development process.

Tomaszkiewicz highlighted that while The Blood of Dawnwalker won't match the sheer size of typical AAA titles, the focus remains on delivering a robust experience. "Definitely, our games are not as huge in terms of amount of content and gameplay hours - we are a smaller studio, this is our first project, so we definitely are building something smaller. But we want to build something as robust in terms of quality, maybe a bit shorter," he stated. The game aims for a 30-40 hour main campaign, which, while shorter than some AAA titles, still promises a substantial and engaging narrative.

Set in the mystical land of Vale Sangora, The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven open-world dark fantasy RPG. Players will embody Coen, a young peasant who gains vampiric powers and embarks on a quest to save his ailing sister. This journey will take players through a world filled with unique challenges and adversaries.

Although a specific release date has not been announced, The Blood of Dawnwalker is expected to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Fans can look forward to a gameplay reveal in Summer 2025, offering a first glimpse into the world of Vale Sangora and the adventures that await.
