Owlcat Games has unveiled their latest project, Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, a new narrative-driven tactical RPG set within the iconic grimdark universe of Warhammer 40,000. This sequel follows the success of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader and was revealed during the Warhammer Skulls 2025 showcase. In Dark Heresy, players will step into the shoes of an Inquisitor, a revered and feared enforcer of the Imperium, tasked with rooting out heresy and corruption. The game's backdrop is the tumultuous period of the Noctis Aeterna and the enigmatic Tyrant Star, where players will command a diverse warband to combat threats ranging from loyal Imperial figures, such as a seasoned Guardsman from Catachan, to exotic xenos like a Kroot mercenary.

Dark Heresy promises a deep dive into the world of the Inquisition with its intricate investigations, a strategic turn-based combat system, and impactful choices that shape the narrative. Building upon the foundation laid by Rogue Trader, Dark Heresy will feature fully voiced dialogues to enhance its immersive experience. The game is slated for release on PC via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, though no specific release window has been announced yet.

In addition to the announcement of Dark Heresy, Owlcat Games has detailed future content for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. The second major story expansion, Lex Imperialis, will immerse players in the realm of Imperial Law, introducing the Adeptus Arbites and a new companion, Solomorne Anthar. This expansion, set to launch on June 24, 2025, includes battle Familiars like cybernetic eagles and cyber-mastiffs, promising to enhance both the gameplay and narrative depth of Rogue Trader.

Furthermore, Owlcat announced Season Pass 2 for Rogue Trader, which will include two additional expansions and an appearance customization pack. The third expansion will see players delving into a Necron vault overseen by Trazyn the Infinite, facing ancient guardians and uncovering relics linked to the Von Valancius legacy. The fourth expansion will take players into the eerie Processional of the Damned, a voidship graveyard that promises a descent into madness and mystery. Each of these expansions will introduce new companions, quests, mechanics, and around 15 hours of gameplay, deeply integrated into the main storyline of Rogue Trader.
