If you follow Rockstar Games on X (the Everything App formerly known as Twitter), you might have been taken aback by their recent post about the film Marching Powder and its star, Danny Dyer. The tweet reads:

It's natural to wonder why Rockstar, with its massive following of 21 million, would promote a small British film. And if you're unfamiliar with Danny Dyer, let us fill you in.

Who is Danny Dyer?

Daniel John Dyer, known as Danny Dyer, is an actor hailing from East London. In the UK, he's a household name, celebrated as an "absolute legend." For those unfamiliar with British slang, Urban Dictionary defines a legend as:

"A person who embodies the pinnacle of all the important social aspects. Any person who is funny, reckless, original and sensitive in the right measures is likely to be nominated a legend by his associates. A person to whose persona you aspire."

Dyer's career began in 1993, and he's known for portraying tough, working-class characters. His public persona is equally bold; he's outspoken on societal and governmental issues, often adopting a "tough uncle" approach to life. For instance, in 2010, he advised a Zoo magazine reader recovering from a breakup to go "on a rampage [drinking session] with the boys." His social media presence is equally entertaining, as seen in this post:

Roll on bonfire night..........it's gonna get strapped to a great big massive fuck off Rocket so it can join the other Furbys in the sky...

How is Danny Dyer Connected to Rockstar?

If you're a fan of the Grand Theft Auto series, you've likely heard Danny Dyer's voice as Kent Paul in GTA: Vice City, where he manages the Scottish rock band Love Fist. He reprised this role in GTA: San Andreas, managing the Gurning Chimps and later producing for rapper Madd Dogg.

Dyer's connection to Rockstar goes beyond voice acting. In 2004, he starred in The Football Factory, a British film directed by Nick Love and produced by Rockstar Games. This film delves into themes of football hooliganism, heavy drinking, and drug use, wrapped in a gritty British humor.

Marching Powder, the film mentioned in Rockstar's tweet, reunites Dyer with Nick Love. Although not a sequel to The Football Factory, it explores similar themes. Rockstar's promotion of Marching Powder seems to be a nod to their past collaboration with Dyer and Love, rather than any involvement in the new film.

Is Vice City's Kent Paul Returning for GTA 6?

As of now, there's no confirmation about Kent Paul's return in GTA 6. Rockstar's tweet about Marching Powder has no bearing on GTA 6. However, it's fun to speculate. The Grand Theft Auto series is divided into two universes: the 3D era (PS2 and PSP games) and the HD era (from GTA 4 onwards). These universes have separate storylines, which is why GTA 5's Los Santos differs from San Andreas' version, and characters from the 3D era aren't directly mentioned in the HD era games.

Despite this separation, there are connections between the two universes. For example, Grove Street from San Andreas appears in GTA 5, and some gangs like the Ballas are present in both. Lazlo, the infamous character, also spans both eras. Notably, Kent Paul has his name on the Vinewood Walk of Fame in GTA 5. While it's possible Kent Paul could return in GTA 6, the tweet about Marching Powder doesn't provide any clues.
