Big Bad Wolf, the studio renowned for captivating games such as Vampire: The Masquerade Swansong and The Council, has unveiled their next ambitious project: Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss. The announcement was accompanied by a stunning CG trailer that introduces players to Noah, the protagonist battling the brink of insanity amidst the submerged city of R'lyeh and the legendary Great Old One, Cthulhu.

Set in the futuristic year of 2053, the narrative unfolds as corporate ocean mining inadvertently awakens an ancient cosmic horror. Players will embody Noah, an agent of Interpol's covert Occult Affairs division, tasked with delving into the mysterious vanishings of miners in the Pacific Ocean. Assisted by an AI companion named Key, players will navigate the enigmatic depths of R'lyeh, decipher complex puzzles, and strive to preserve their sanity against the overwhelming presence of Cthulhu.

Harnessing the power of Unreal Engine 5, Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss promises to deliver visually stunning, reality-distorting environments that fully immerse players in its eerie and gripping atmosphere. The trailer, now available, hints at a suspenseful and thrilling adventure. The game is slated for release in 2026, and will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

In other news, Frogwares has also revealed gameplay footage for The Sinking City 2, another title drawing inspiration from the works of H.P. Lovecraft.
