Crash Bandicoot 5 Reportedly Shelved

A former Toys For Bob concept artist, Nicholas Kole, hinted on X (formerly Twitter) that a Crash Bandicoot 5 was canceled. This revelation followed a discussion about Kole's scrapped "Project Dragon," a new IP he was developing with Phoenix Labs. Kole's comment, "It is not Spyro, but some day folks will hear about the Crash 5 that never was and it’s gonna break hearts," ignited a wave of disappointment among fans.

The news comes after Toys For Bob's transition to an independent studio following its separation from Activision Blizzard earlier this year. While the studio is now partnered with Microsoft Xbox for future projects, details remain scarce regarding their upcoming title.

The last mainline Crash Bandicoot game, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, released in 2020, achieved over five million sales. Subsequent releases included the mobile runner Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! and the online multiplayer title Crash Team Rumble, which concluded its live service in March 2023.

The future of Crash Bandicoot 5 remains uncertain. While Toys For Bob enjoys greater creative freedom as an independent studio, the possibility of a future installment remains a question mark, leaving fans eagerly anticipating any further news.
