Warner Bros.' previously shelved film, Coyote vs. Acme, may finally make its way to audiences, as reported by Deadline. The Los Angeles-based independent film production and distribution company, Ketchup Entertainment, is currently engaged in "deep sale negotiations" to acquire the rights to this completed movie, which was once believed to be entirely abandoned.

While the deal has yet to be finalized, Deadline suggests that a theatrical release for Coyote vs. Acme could be on the horizon for 2026. This film, announced in 2022 and inspired by Ian Frazier's 1990 New Yorker article of the same name, was co-written by James Gunn and features Will Forte and John Cena in leading roles. Originally slated for a mid-2023 release on Max, the project was unfortunately shelved despite having completed filming. Since then, a dedicated campaign to revive the movie has been underway.

Ketchup Entertainment has a history of rescuing films from cancellation. They recently saved Warner Bros.' The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie from a similar fate, ensuring its theatrical release in the US. This film marks the first fully animated Looney Tunes movie to hit theaters and has been praised by IGN as a "laugh-out-loud riot."

Ketchup Entertainment's portfolio includes notable releases such as Hellboy: The Crooked Man and the Robert Rodriguez thriller Hypnotic, starring Ben Affleck. The company also co-produced Michael Mann's 2023 biopic, Ferrari.
