Targeting Nu Udra's Tentacles

Nu Udra presents a formidable challenge in Monster Hunter Wilds. Its extensive tentacles grant it impressive reach, making evasion tricky. However, these very tentacles offer melee fighters the closest access points for attacks. Severing its arms yields valuable materials, but proceed cautiously—these limbs pack a powerful punch.

Prioritize the Mouth

Ranged weapon users enjoy greater tactical flexibility. However, the mouth remains the optimal target, boasting a 4-star weakness. While Nu Udra's predominantly black hide makes it difficult to spot, focusing on the mouth is crucial. The head offers a viable alternative, exhibiting a 3-star weakness to ammo damage, and remains effective for blunt and cut damage.

Utilize Watermoss

Nu Udra possesses a fire affinity. Beyond its physical attacks, it employs devastating fire-based assaults. At a certain point, it even ignites itself, posing a significant risk due to the Fireblight debuff. Applying Watermoss is highly recommended to mitigate this threat and enable safer attacks.

Embrace Fire Resistance

Struggling against Nu Udra? Equipping fire-resistant gear significantly improves your chances of survival. The Quematrice armor set, with its inherent Fire Resistance skill, is a strong recommendation. Fire Res Jewels effectively reduce fire damage, while Stream Jewels enhance water-based attacks.

Avoiding the Grab Attack

Nu Udra's arsenal includes numerous dangerous moves, but its grab attack is arguably the most perilous. If positioned too closely, Nu Udra may attempt to ensnare you with its tentacles, followed by a fiery blast. During the brief pause after the grab, swiftly use a knife to break free or exploit its weak point with a Slinger.

To capture Nu Udra, prepare either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, deployment requires weakening the monster to near-death. The skull icon beside the boss icon signals the opportune moment to set the trap. Luring it with meat or simply running behind the trap while it targets you are effective strategies. Once trapped, quickly administer a Tranquilizer; you have approximately five seconds before it breaks free.

This comprehensive guide covers defeating and capturing Nu Udra in Monster Hunter Wilds. While a challenging solo encounter, multiplayer significantly enhances your chances of success.

Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
