Author:Kristen Update:May 28,2025

Civilization 7 is taking a strategic detour to enhance the overall player experience by prioritizing quality-of-life improvements over its initially planned first in-game event. Firaxis Games recently announced this shift in focus via an update check-in on February 28, 2025, revealing that Update 1.1.0, set to launch on March 4, 2025, will feature a range of updates designed to address community feedback.

Among the highlights of Update 1.1.0 is the introduction of a new natural wonder, the Bermuda Triangle, allowing players to explore this intriguing addition at no cost. The much-requested user interface (UI) adjustments are also on the agenda, aiming to resolve longstanding concerns and refine gameplay mechanics. Additionally, the Modern Age’s Cultural Legacy Path will undergo significant changes, with AI leaders receiving upgrades to better facilitate a Cultural Victory.

Fans eagerly awaiting the first half of the paid Crossroads of the World Collection can look forward to its arrival alongside Update 1.1.0. Players who own the applicable editions or have purchased the collection separately will gain access to this content automatically.

Looking ahead, the next major update is scheduled for March 25, 2025, with ongoing UI enhancements remaining a top priority. Future plans include introducing a "one more turn" option to extend gameplay beyond the Modern Age, implementing auto-explore features, expanding map sizes for PC and consoles (excluding Nintendo Switch), and bolstering multiplayer support. While some updates may arrive as early as April, others will require additional time for development and testing.

As Firaxis Games works diligently to deliver these improvements, players are encouraged to stay tuned for further announcements. Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
