Keep Your Guard Up

Xu Wu's agility is its defining trait. Its dark coloration further complicates matters, making it difficult to discern its orientation. Adding to the challenge are its multiple arms and a disconcerting habit of disappearing into walls, only to reappear from the ceiling, aiming for a surprise attack. This behavior is, thankfully, confined to its nest, so exercise extra caution in this area.

Harness the Power of Ice

Xu Wu exhibits a significant weakness to Ice attacks. Utilize Ice ammo with ranged weapons, or equip gear that inflicts Ice elemental damage when using melee weapons. Consider attaching a Frost Jewel decoration for the Ice Attack skill boost, and keep Frost Pods handy for inflicting minor Ice damage.

Evade the Grab Attack

Beyond its tentacle attacks and erratic movements, Xu Wu employs a powerful grab attack. Should you be caught, your weapon will be temporarily unusable. Fortunately, a two-second window exists to escape. Use your slinger immediately, with Frost Pods proving particularly effective.

Target the Mouth

Xu Wu's mouth represents its most vulnerable point, though its location beneath its body makes it a fleeting target, typically visible only during diving attacks. Landing a powerful blow here can inflict substantial damage and potentially break the mouth, yielding Xu Wu's fang as a reward. Failing that, focus attacks on its head, which boasts 4-star weakness to blunt and cut damage, and 3-star weakness to ammo damage.

Exploit the Poison Weakness

Xu Wu possesses a 3-star weakness to Poison. Bows, with their Poison Coating option, are particularly effective for inflicting this status ailment. While other status effects can be explored, avoid Sleep, as its effectiveness against Xu Wu is minimal.

Once Xu Wu's health drops to 20%, a capture opportunity arises. Employ either a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap, using meat or even yourself as bait to lure the monster. Quickly fire a tranquilizer to secure the capture before it escapes the trap—time is of the essence!

Mastering the hunt and capture of Xu Wu requires vigilance and strategic planning. Its agility demands constant awareness of your stamina, and preparedness for its unpredictable attacks.
