Captain America: Brave New World Is One of the Shortest Marvel Cinematic Universe Films

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 03,2025

Captain America: Brave New World, clocking in at a concise 1 hour and 58 minutes, claims the title of shortest Captain America film and ranks among the shortest MCU films overall. AMC Theatres confirmed this runtime, placing it among the select few MCU entries under two hours and securing its position as the seventh shortest of 35 films. This contrasts sharply with the three previous Captain America films, all exceeding the two-hour mark.

While many of the shorter MCU films hail from Phases 1 and 2, several recent exceptions exist. The shortest, The Marvels (2022), runs 1 hour and 45 minutes, followed by The Incredible Hulk, Thor: The Dark World, Thor, Doctor Strange, and Ant-Man.

Brave New World shares its runtime with Ant-Man and The Wasp. In contrast, the longest MCU film, Avengers: Endgame, stretches to 3 hours and 1 minute, followed by Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Eternals, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Despite its upcoming February 14th release, Brave New World reportedly underwent extensive rewrites and reshoots, including scenes featuring WWE star Seth Rollins. The impact of these revisions on the final runtime remains unclear.

Starring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, this film marks the first Captain America movie following Chris Evans' Steve Rogers' retirement. Mackie promises a continuation of the grounded, espionage-thriller legacy of the series.

The film also incorporates lesser-known characters from Marvel lore, including a payoff to a tease from The Incredible Hulk (the second MCU film) through the introduction of The Leader. Red Hulk also features prominently.
